Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington resides in the US and is a Greek-American writer, syndicated columnist and a businesswoman. She is a founder of The Huffington Post and the director of Thrive Global. Author of more than 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a writer, philanthropist, television personality and the owner of the independent free online news publication The Huffington Post. She moved out of Greece to England at the age of 16 and received an MA in Economics from Cambridge University in Economics. The first non-English student to graduate, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. Her success as a conservative columnist was consolidated after she completed her studies. After the launch of The Huffington Post a few year later, she established an online voice portal that offered an honest assessment of the current politics. She was able to get numerous prominent contributors to post their views regarding politics and culture. Arianna became famous after she made the decision in 2003 to become an Independent candidate in the California Recall election to succeed former Governor Davis. The project she headed was the Detroit fuel-efficient car project. Forbes placed her at 12 on their list of the Top influential women in the media. Guardian also included the HuffingtonPost in their list of the top 100 in 2010. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she was named the president of this group. It included a variety of AOL products at the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli has two siblings, Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, and Elli the other, both of whom are management consultants and journalists. While she was very close to her father it was her relationship with her mother which shaped her character. Even as a young girl, she showed leadership traits that she's still known for. At the age of 16, she returned to the UK to pursue her studies and was enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years in which she became the third and first female to be elected president. She graduated in 1972 with an honorary degree in Economics. Her professional career as a journalist and television host began after she graduated. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
